Excavation and Forms

Excavation of the backyard and setting the forms for the foundation pour. Very interesting stuff. One of those jobs that requires serious Math skills that they never tell you about in school. Probably even more powerful than telling students about the job would be to actually teach Math this way. (Speaking from a little bit of experience here, having done bookshelf and chair building projects with my 2nd-3rd graders.)

On top here you see the floor joists in the kitchen. The newer wood, perpendicular to those joists, is the form for the new foundation that will replace the crumbling NW corner.Close up of the forms.
Pull back shot from the south.
